For some reason, I felt like I needed to post these two at the same time... they seem to "go together". My intuition told me that, and over the years I've learned to listen to my intuition....

The first is a photo of a grave statue from Lancaster Cemetery... the statue is at the final resting place of Augusta Harriet Bitner, and is reported to be one of Lancaster County's paranormal hotspots (ie. haunted). I took this around noon on October 26th when I was exploring the cemetery with Nettie Gallagher.
(For a more detailed story regarding the haunted aspect of this statue, plus some additional excellent photos by a photographer by the name of "Balko", visit this site on laurelight.com)
The second photo is of my friend Virginia, a.k.a. Nimhiril Arawfaera.... yes, that second name is the Elven language of the Tolkien variety. This shot wasn't done as part of any "official photoshoot" sort of deal... it was a snapshot of her that I took around 11pm at Club Shampoo in Philadelphia during the Dracula's Ball event on November 1st. I caught her in a really nice pose, and the way the club lighting was hitting her at that moment captured my attention. So, a little time spent color correcting in Photoshop (to get rid of the excess red from the club lighting) and... ta da! A "regular" snapshot becomes part of my official bag o' photographic tricks.
Incidentally, I've been trying to talk Virginia into modeling for me at some point in the future... I think she looks fantastic in the East German military visor hat and I absolutely love her hair (it's hard to tell in this shot, but it goes down below her waist). She's a bit bashful, though... so any well-applied peer pressure on your part would not only be tons of fun, but would also be highly conducive to the furtherance of the creation of great art.... ;-)
Now.... the first of you who can deduce the meaning behind my title for this will win a non-Cuban cigar.

As for Virginia, nicely done! Makes me think of some girl in a bar waiting for her airman to come home or something along those lines. I'd say do what you can to get her to come to one of the photoshoots. Maybe tell her she doesn't have to participate but to see what it's like. Who knows? Maybe while there she'll get in the mood and want to have a few done of her. Baby steps might be the way to go to open her up to the idea more.

Thanks... I really liked how Virginia's pic came out. Unfortunately, it's a bit blurry (snapshots in clubs tend to be that way for me), but you can only really see that in the larger-sized version. Sharpening in Photoshop does weird things to a photo, so I had to keep that to a bit of a minimum.
I have another really good shot of her from that night with some really cool multi-colored club lighting in the background and a white spot light effect on her head (the hat is mostly casting a shadow across her face). Haven't had a chance to work on it yet, though.
Yeah, I was thinking of inviting her out to hang around during a shoot... maybe you'll see her at one of ours in the future.
